THE 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR ANNUAL COMPETITION
FOR THE FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM
FOR CITIZENS OF REPUBLIC OF SERBIA
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar
Program is a non-degree research program for
junior and senior researchers, university
lecturers and experts from academic institutions
in Serbia. This program sends scholars to
the United States for advanced research and
university lecturing. All applicants must
currently be affiliated with one of the universities
in Serbia. Special preference will be given
to candidates who have the capacity and commitment
to take full advantage of a program of research
or lecturing at a U.S. university, and who
are willing to share their experience and
knowledge after returning to Serbia.
Fields of Specialization: Applications will
be considered in the following areas of specialization:
Agriculture, American History,
American Literature, American Studies, Anthropology,
Anthropology, Architecture, Art, Art History,
Biological Sciences, Business Administration,
Chemistry, Communications, Computer Science,
Creative Writing, Dance, Economics, Education,
Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Film
Studies, Geography, Geology, History (non-U.S.),
Information Sciences, Journalism, Language/Literature
(non-U.S.), Law, Library Science, Linguistics,
Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Music, Philosophy,
Physics/Astronomy, Political Science, Psychology,
Public Administration, Public/Global Health,
Religious Studies,
Social Work, Sociology, TEFL/Applied Linguistics,
Theater, Urban Planning
Eligibility requirements:
• Applicants must be citizens
of Republic of Serbia
• Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the field
of research or lecturing
• Applicants must be proficient in oral and
written English
• Applicants must be eligible for J-1 visa,
which requires the grantee to return to Republic
of Serbia for a minimum of two years at the
end of the grant period
• Applicants must receive a satisfactory medical
clearance
• Persons desiring permanent residence in
the United States are not eligible
Dependents: Since the funds
are limited, the Fulbright program at this
time does not permit accompanying dependents.

Completed applications must
be submitted (in person or by mail) in triplicate
in English to the above address by November
30, 2008. Only short-listed candidates will
be interviewed in early December, and the
final selection and placement will be made
in Washington, in early 2009.
Any application arriving
in the United States or elsewhere, separate
from the official U.S. Embassy submission,
will not be considered.
